The McDonald's Manager That Wears Many Hats
Sheri Williams began her career at McDonald's in June of 1981 when she accepted a position as hostess/lobby personnel in Arkansas City, Kansas. “What I enjoy most about working at McDonald’s is being a part of making people grow. I like to see the light bulb go on. I always wanted to teach and I really enjoy teaching people about McDonald’s,” she said. Sheri recently received a management award from the Atlanta Region. Her ongoing determination to develop people, exceptional management skills and ability to multitask are just a few traits that have made Sheri the award-winning McDonald’s store manager that she is today. “In the past I’ve worn many hats. At one critical time, I acted as store manager, supervisor, and training coordinator while rebuilding our management base. We ended the year with an outstanding score on mystery shops, and built our management staff from two to ten managers within six months.”
When asked about the obstacles she had to overcome to get to where she is today, Sheri replied “with my family being Military, I’ve had to move around a lot. It’s always difficult to start over with each organization.” Sheri has received many awards during her tenure with McDonald’s including outstanding store manager, most fun store, sales building, and people development honors. Her level of enthusiasm and commitment to her customers and staff shines brightly through in everything she does.
Through her store, Sheri is actively involved with the community. Sheri is currently working on an effort to recognize teachers. Her store supports Westview Elementary School and Goose Creek High School Football. Her store has also partnered with North Charleston Parks and Recreation in support of the Wheelchair Basketball Tournament and Special Olympics. Stop by the McDonald’s at 109 N. Albert Horne began his career at McDonald's in 1973 when he accepted a position as swing manager. “What I enjoy most about working at McDonald’s is meeting new people and taking care of my customers,” he said. Al recently received a management award from the Atlanta Region. His strong dedication to customers and exemplary leadership skills are two traits that have made Al the successful McDonald’s store manager that he is today. “I understand what it takes to work with a diverse crew and I do everything I can to assure that my staff comprehends the logistics of their jobs, regardless of barriers.”
When asked about the obstacles he had to overcome to get to where he is today, Al replied “When making the decision to become a store manager, I had to make a personal commitment to myself and a career commitment to McDonald’s.” Two years ago, Al was awarded the Division People Award in Las Vegas. Among the reasons for receiving this award, were high marks on employee satisfaction surveys, maintaining low turnover rates and participating in management development. There is no question that Al is dedicated to his career.
